The Role
The Senior Human Resources Manager drives the strategic HR initiatives that support our client’s overall business objectives. This role leads to key functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. A strong emphasis is placed on overseeing the company’s health insurance programs, ensuring both regulatory compliance and cost-effectiveness. By fostering engagement and a positive workplace culture, the Senior HR Manager helps enhance employee development and organizational success.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Participate in executive meetings to ensure HR goals align with organizational objectives.
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the HR team, providing guidance and support.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of HR staff.
- Policy Development and Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Talent Management:
- Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract top talent.
- Develop and implement employee retention strategies.
- Manage performance appraisal systems and provide feedback.
- Employee Relations:
- Address and resolve employee relations issues.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Implement and oversee employee engagement initiatives.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Design and manage compensation and benefits programs.
- Conduct salary surveys and benchmark practices to ensure competitive pay.
- Oversee employee benefits, particularly health insurance.
- Oversight of Employee Benefits: Health Insurance
- Plan Selection and Design: Evaluate and select health insurance plans that meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
- Negotiations with Providers: Negotiate terms, premiums, and service agreements with health insurance providers.
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with health insurance regulations such as ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
- Employee Communication: Develop communication strategies to educate employees about health insurance options and coverage details.
- Open Enrollment: Coordinate and manage the annual open enrollment process.
- Employee Assistance: Provide support to employees regarding their health insurance benefits.
- Plan Performance Evaluation: Regularly review the performance of health insurance plans and identify areas for improvement.
- Vendor Management: Monitor and evaluate health insurance vendors.
- Benefits Strategy Development: Develop long-term strategies for health insurance and other employee benefits.
- Market Trends Analysis: Stay informed about market trends and new health insurance products.
- Cost Management: Implement strategies to manage and control health insurance program costs.
- Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and develop training programs from management to shopfloor employees.
- Oversee employee and leadership development and career progression initiatives.
- Change Management:
- Lead and manage organizational change initiatives.
- Support employees through transitions and ensure effective communication.
- Performance Management:
- Develop and implement performance management systems.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on performance issues.
- HR Metrics and Analytics:
- Track and analyze HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs.
- Prepare reports for senior management on HR-related issues.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least five years of progressive experience in HR, with prior responsibility for strategic planning, policy development, and talent management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations, particularly as they pertain to benefits and health insurance (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA).
- Proven leadership and management experience, including oversee recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple HR initiatives.
- Proven track record of collaboration with Senior Leadership.
- Demonstrated Experience working with a blue-collar work force spread over multiple locations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a MUST.
