The Role
We’re looking for a strategic and data-driven Sales Operation Manager to drive growth and strengthen partnerships with key retail accounts across drug, mass, and grocery channels. As a pivotal member of our client’s sales team, you will directly influence their success by managing retailer relationships, analyzing retail performance, working with brokers, and executing strategies to keep their brand ahead in the competitive marketplace.
This role combines relationship-building, sales execution, and market insights to ensure the products not only meet but exceed expectations on shelves and online.
Responsibilities
Sales Support:
- Assist the VP of Sales in managing day-to-day communication and interactions with key retail customers
- In collaboration with the VP of sales, work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for product placement, promotions, and shelf expansion within the drug, mass, and grocery channels.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to quickly resolve any customer concerns, ensuring a seamless experience for retail partners.
- Act as a support to help the VP of Sales with managing broker relationships to ensure alignment with sales objectives, retail execution, and timely communication of account updates and priorities.
Retail Media & Shopper Marketing Support:
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop data-driven shopper marketing strategies, leveraging retailer platforms and tools to increase conversion and category share.
- Manage retailer.com presence, including item maintenance, content updates, pricing accuracy, and performance reporting to ensure optimal visibility and sales online.
- Support new product launches by providing data-driven category recommendations.
Sales Analysis & Performance Reporting:
- Prepare and distribute sales reports, identifying key trends and actionable insights.
- Analyze point-of-sale (POS) data to track product performance and recommend actionable strategies for improvement.
- Create clear, concise sales reports for internal stakeholders, providing insights on trends, risks, and opportunities in retail performance and market conditions.
- Conduct competitive analysis and product performance to identify opportunities for enhanced or improved performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, supply chain, finance) to align on insights, optimize strategies, and drive continuous improvement in sales performance.
- Communicate and partner with data providers (e.g., NielsenIQ, IRI, or retailer-specific platforms, Broker) to ensure data accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and leverage insights for decision-making.
Sales Presentations & Execution:
- In collaboration with the VP of Sales, develop and deliver compelling sales presentations, pitches, and promotional decks that highlight product benefits, category trends, and retailer ROI.
- Support the VP of Sales in negotiating terms with retail buyers to achieve optimal product placement and promotional opportunities.
Meeting Coordination & Scheduling:
- Coordinate and schedule meetings with retail buyers, ensuring all logistics and follow-ups are managed efficiently.
- Support preparation for meetings by ensuring all required materials (sales reports, decks, products, etc.) are ready.
Promotional Management & Execution:
- Assist in the implementation of retail programs, from promotional campaigns to product launches, ensuring all timelines and objectives are met.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, supply chain, finance) to ensure product availability, pricing, and promotional alignment with account needs.
- Track promotional performance, analyze results, and provide actionable recommendations to optimize future promotions and drive sales growth.
- Coordinate with the Marketing team to align promotional efforts with broader brand strategies and maximize impact across all channels.
Industry & Market Expertise:
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and retail performance particularly in the Feminine Health space.
- Provide feedback to internal key stakeholders on new market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitor activities.
Trade Shows & Industry Events:
- In partnership with the VP of Sales and Marketing, represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate event logistics, including booth setup, marketing materials, and product displays.
- Gather and share insights from industry events to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive activity.
Administrative Support:
- Manage customer contracts, pricing sheets, and sales documentation.
- Help maintain internal documents with the most updated customer details and sales information.
- Handle customer portals, ensuring all required product information, pricing, and documentation are accurate and submitted on time to meet retailer compliance standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in sales or account management in consumer packaged goods (CPG). Experience working with drug, mass, or grocery retailers is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with retail media platforms, shopper marketing, or digital advertising is a strong plus.
- Experience in feminine health, OTC, or personal care categories is a bonus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven ability to manage and grow key retail relationships, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting sales data and turning insights into actionable plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with NielsenIQ, IRI, or retailer-specific data platforms is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and driving results.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to meet with key accounts, attend trade shows, and collaborate with internal teams.
- Comfortable working in a high-growth, fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.
