The Role: Global Chief Revenue Officer
Location: State College, PA

The Role

Our client is seeking a Global Chief Revenue Officer to advance its mission of combining weather data, technology, and human insight to improve lives and businesses around the world.  This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be tasked with developing and managing world-class sales and marketing teams.


  • Own our client’s Revenue goal by partnering with the senior team to develop and drive overall revenue growth and financial performance goals.
  • Own the connection of our client’s superior value proposition to Client needs – by segment and customer type
  • Develop sales strategies, plans and tactics to drive revenue, expand the customer base and maximize short- and long-term revenue potential from existing and prospective customers across multiple lines of business. This individual should be able to ideate with the board and access their senior relationships.
  • Pursue, establish, and leverage successful relationships with alliances, channels, and joint venture partners.
  • Establish and manage a sustainable, predictable, and scalable sales model (structure, resources, systems/process).
  • Create a standardized outreach for current and future clients and coordinate the implementation across sales channels, client management, and marketing and communications.
  • Develop and implement robust sales management processes – pipeline, account planning, and proposals.
  • Create accountability within the company by developing appropriate sales metrics and coordinating compensation and promotions with these metrics, including individual sales goals, pricing, commission, and compensation plans.
  • Partner with IT to define needs and maintain business ownership of revenue generation and sales support systems, tools, and automation (e.g., CRM, analytics, sales forecasting, data management).
  • Analyze the effectiveness of go-to-market strategies by segment and work closely with product management.
  • Partner with senior leadership to translate insight into actionable strategies focused on improving operating success and identifying new opportunities.
  • Develop and implement robust sales management processes – pipeline, account planning, and proposals.
  • Oversee all Channel/Partner Development—adding new sales channels and partners.
  • Drive a “lean startup” style environment of constant experimentation and learning.
  • Leverage customer research (quantity and quality) to provide strategic leadership for product development and positioning.
  • Allocate sales and customer resources to effectively support the varying needs of multiple lines of business.
  • Analyze cost centers to look for potential efficiencies and savings.
  • Productize enterprise data offerings to the Fortune 1000.



Qualified candidates must think strategically, have excellent analytical and communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic environment. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and working independently.

  • BA/BS Degree or higher.
  • 10 -15 years’ experience with a successful track record of high achievement in a competitive setting.
  • Digital media sales and support expertise.
  • Enterprise selling experience and experience managing more than one line or division
  • Has a solid understanding of our client’s mission and can articulate it to others.
  • Understanding of Data as a differentiator
  • Grew top-line revenue in more than one segment and by a double-digit rate
  • Has led an organization growing from 100 to 300+ people.
  • Related industry professional experience managing a successful global sales organization.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and conceptual thinking ability.
  • Well-founded relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record in solving problems and consensus building.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly successful in growing audience size and engagement.
  • Ability to see the big picture while effectively managing details.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, fun, and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership over larger deals. 
  • Leadership in developing an accurate forecasting process.
  • Superior and articulate communicator who communicates at the C-Suite level and with executive presence, along with a demonstrated ability to be collaborative and open-minded.
  • Proven track record in working with business owners at multiple levels.
  • Must be a highly respected motivator and in command.
  • Ability to identify and articulate business opportunities and respond with successful proposals.
  • Ability to understand multiple viewpoints and consolidate information into impartial analysis for decision-making.
  • Deep experience in leading sales organizations and a proven track record in partnering with business leaders to drive growth.
  • The ability to interpret and analyze a variety of complex business, market, personnel, and legal situations. 
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and balance work in the face of rapidly changing needs.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Create a culture of accountability across sales and marketing by setting appropriate metrics and tying compensation and promotions to results.
