The Role:  Staff Accountant
Location:  Plano, TX

HireBetter’s client is a company that owns, operates, and franchises more than 12 fast-casual dining restaurants located across three states, namely Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.

The Role

Our client, a rapidly growing leader in Restaurant Services, is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join their dynamic Accounting team. As part of a multi-brand privately owned organization, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Controller, the ideal candidate will leverage their prior experience in the restaurant industry to support the company’s financial operations.


  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including journal entries, sales adjustments, reconciliations, and ensuring proper matching of banking activities.
  • Assist in the timely closure of monthly accounting cycles, including period closes for operational calendars and month-end accounting for 10+ legal entities.
  • Reconcile and clean up financial records within a 3-day close timeline.
  • Execute soft weekly close procedures to maintain up-to-date financial information.
  • Address the challenge of managing the volume of entities within the organization.
  • Drive the improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Manage 3rd party delivery services data integration with POS systems (Toast and Revel).
  • Monitor and analyze sales data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee banking transactions and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage capital and fixed asset accounting, including asset tracking and depreciation of equipment.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, in the restaurant or food industry.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, specifically Restaurant 365 Accounting.
  • Prior experience with POS systems, specifically Toast and Revel.
  • Understand 3rd party food delivery services sales and reporting.
  • Strong journal entry skills with a clear understanding of how debits and credits affect GL types and accounts.
  • Familiarity with Business Personal Property (BPP) tax regulations.
  • Experience with filing state sales tax.
  • Strong understanding of month-end closing processes.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities is highly desirable.
  • Self-driven and motivated to excel in a fast-paced environment is a must.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of a startup environment.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and committed to maintaining accuracy and consistency.
