They develop and operate high-performance GPU-based compute clusters, enabling enterprise clients, startups, and hyperscale AI users to deploy large-scale AI models with speed, reliability, and cost efficiency. The company is growing at an extremely rapid pace, fueled by the explosive demand for AI compute.
The Role
Our client is seeking a high-bandwidth, technical, and commercially savvy Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as the operational counterpart to the CEO and lead all daily execution for the company. The COO will own cross-functional operations across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Finance, and Commercial teams, ensuring fast and disciplined execution. Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Execution
• Lead all daily operational activities of the company, including infrastructure builds, engineering, cloud operations, product, finance, and GTM alignment.
• Build and scale operational systems, workflows, prioritization frameworks, and dashboards.
• Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation, compute scaling, and infrastructure readiness.
• Ensure flawless execution in an environment with constant technical and commercial demands.
Technical & Infrastructure Alignment
• Partner with the CTO on hardware infrastructure buildouts, GPU deployments, clusters, networking, and uptime.
• Understand AI compute constraints to prioritize investments and operational decisions.
• Oversee the interplay between hardware availability, software readiness, customer workloads, and scaling challenges.
Commercial & Go-to-Market Support
• Work closely with the CEO on key customer conversations, deal cycles, and strategic partnerships.
• Ensure operations support fast-moving pipeline demands, including deploying compute for new customers quickly and predictably.
• Provide commercial intuition to help shape pricing, deal structure, and customer commitments.
People Leadership & Capability Assessment
• Act as the company’s top evaluator of talent: assessing capability, fit, bandwidth, and alignment to company needs.
• Build strong leadership across engineering, operations, finance, and customer-facing teams.
• Create high-performance collaboration.
Scaling & Growth
• Lead major scale initiatives alongside the CEO.
• Prepare the organization for rapid customer growth and infrastructure demand.
• Drive operational readiness for fundraising, investor interactions, and rapid headcount expansion.
Qualifications
• 5–7+ years in a COO or senior operations leadership role.
• Experience in industries like:
o AI compute or cloud infrastructure
o Hardware + software operational environments
o SaaS or cloud commercial models
o Technical systems with complex dependencies
• Strong exposure to sales cycles, commercial discussions, and closing dynamics.
• Experience scaling a high-growth or founder-led technology company.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and upgrade talent.
• Built operating systems, KPIs, dashboards, and cross-functional rhythms.
