The Role

The Vice President of Construction will strategically build and lead the team, managing complex commercial roofing projects, and work with demanding clients. Reporting to the CEO, this person will lead all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to the organization’ s commercial roofing construction operations. The Vice President will serve as an inspirational and motivational leader to the operations team to execute on the CEO’ s vision and strategy for dramatic growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Co-create, design, develop, implement and assess project management procedures, quality control and safety methods to support the company’ s strategic business plan
  • Confer with and directs project managers, superintendents, safety manager, workers and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work
  • Develop and implement the processes and procedures necessary to scale the business
  • Execute all work with excellence and a high sense of urgency
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedule
  • Manage all phases of the projects (roofing, sheet metal, service department, etc.)
  • Provide leadership in embracing and representing the company’ s corporate culture
  • Provide leadership on all stages of the client service cycle and create an unparalleled customer experience
  • Responsible for project manager supervision and performance reviews, hiring and termination decisions, and contract review
  • Schedule projects and review construction plans
  • Study project specifications and blueprints to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times, staffing requirements, and materials for each phase of construction
  • Support the CEO and other members of the executive team in building the infrastructure and organization necessary to achieve the company' s goals and objectives for growth/scale
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that services are held to the highest standard of quality and delivered on time

Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial roofing preferred
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Construction Science and Management, Finance, or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • Experience leading construction operations within an organization that has experienced revenue growth to at least $40M
  • Strong proactive communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively with and support the CEO in executing strategy and goals
  • A sense of urgency; you know what “ fast-paced” really means and you embrace it
  • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize, leading effectively through the dynamics of change in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Accountability is crucial; you never say, “ That’ s not my job” or “ I didn’ t sign up for that”
  • Advanced user of technologies for project management, job cost and scheduling
  • Experience identifying, hiring, and motivation talented employees
